Calling Them "The Best Of Birch",
DW Unveils New Collector's Series Birch Drums

DW Drum Workshop drums

12/01

Developed to combine the punch and focus of birch with the quality and performance of DW’s legendary Collector’s Series, Drum Workshop is proud to announce the introduction of Collector’s Birch drums. Collector’s Birch features hand-selected, 6-ply, all-birch drumshells that are made in DW’s own factory, TimbreMatched™ into individual kits, custom-manufactured with Precision Bearing Edges and finished in a virtually unlimited variety of FinishPly, Satin Oil, Lacquer or Exotic options. Although they are available with optional reinforcing hoops, according to John Good, DW’s chief drum designer, DW’s standard, unreinforced birch shells maximize the unique tonal characteristics of the alternative wood.

"There’s nothing that can match the classic warmth and resonance of our reinforced all-maple drums," says Good. "But maple may not always be right for every drummer or drumming application. Birch is sometimes chosen for its more focused frequency response in live and studio situations, but until now players who sought the tonal qualities of birch often had to settle for a lower grade of drums. Now, with Collector’s Birch they can have the sound of birch and the quality of DW."

DW Collector’s Birch drums are available in a full range of standard, traditional, FAST and short size snare drums, tom-toms and bass drums.
