PMC Releases "Drumming Goes Digital" Brochure
In Time For International Drum Month

11/00

The Percussion Marketing Council has announced the release of "Drumming Goes Digital, An Introduction to Electronic Drumming". The four-page publication is intended to help raise the awareness of electronic drumming by introducing the public to the history and features of the growing musical trend. According to music industry figures, electronic drum sales have nearly doubled in the past two years with more and more professional and recreational drummers taking advantage of the benefits of today’s advanced, electronic drums. Some of these benefits include improved sound selection and quality, complete volume control, easy integration into music instruction programs and user-friendly computer interfacing.

Along with information on electronic drums and a list of leading manufacturers, comments regarding their use by top professional players such as John Robinson (Barbra Streisand), Michael Baker (Whitney Houston), Dan Wojciechowski (LeAnn Rimes), Kenny Aronoff (Melissa Etheridge), Stephen Perkins (Methods Of Mayhem), Omar Hakim (Madonna) and Tony Verderosa (solo artist) are also included in the primer.

Recent scientific research has shown that active music making offers many developmental, therapeutic and life-style enhancements and, like all forms of drumming, electronic drumming remains one of the most accessible methods of making music. As world-famous drummer Omar Hakim points out, "Electronic drums are the drums of the new millennium. Ignoring them would be a big mistake whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned professional."

The release of the brochure is timed to coincide with International Drum Month (November 2000) and free copies are available at participating music dealers, on the PMC website (www.playdrums.com) or by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope to Percussion Marketing Council, 12665 Kling St., Studio City, CA 91604. International Drum Month is sponsored by the Drum and Percussion Industry with the generous support of NAMM (the International Music Products Association) and its members.
